Galway Film Fleadh: CHERRYBOMB with Rupert Grint

CHERRYBOMB

CHERRYBOMB

Two boys. Friends. Best friends. As long as no girl comes between them. In CHERRYBOMB Malachy (played by HARRY POTTERs Rupert Grint) and Luke spend a fantastic summer in their hometown Belfast. Until Michelle turns up. Both guys are interested in the young London girl, but she tentalized them both. Two admirers are better than one.

But Malachys and Lukes friendship does not only have to stand the hormonal tests. Their conflict is being fueled by their dirrent heritage. Malachys family is intact and quite rich; Luke lives with his drunk father and sells drugs for his brother. In order to impress Michelle both friends try to outgun the other in dangerous and illegal tests of courage.

If you expect Rupert Grint to be somewhat slow and dumb just like he is in the HARRY POTTER films, you will be positively surprised. Grint is capable of being more than a sorcerers apprentice sidekick. In CHERRYBOMB he shows off his sexy and wild side.

The film had its premiere in the beginning of the year at the Berlinale film festival. On Friday (July 10th 2009 at 7pm) CHERRYBOMB will be screened at the Galway Film Fleadh. Directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn will be in attendance.
