Film Forecasts 2009: IN THE LOOP

IN THE LOOP
What happens if a minister accidently interlinks the terms “war” and “unforeseeable” in front of running cameras? This is to be shown very impressive and extremely entertaining in Armando Iannucci’s bitter political satire IN THE LOOP.
After Britain’s Minister of International Development, Simon Foster (Tom Hollander) announces this supposed declaration of war, he and his team are off to their ‘allies’ – the USA. Soon there are crisis teams and commetties to be called to deal with an approaching war although no-one really knows what’s going on…
The great cast includes besides Tom Hollander (VALKYRIE, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN) James Gandolfini (THE SOPRANOS) as US General Miller and Anna Chlumsky (the sweet MY GIRL is now 28 but not less pretty).

Anna Chlumsky
The part of Malcom Tucker – the British prime minister’s communications chief – is played by Peter Capaldi and the charakter is a holdover from director Armando Iannucci‘s BBC series THE THICK OF IT.
But Scottish Armando Iannucci not only assumed some charakters from THE THICK OF IT for IN THE LOOP. Iannucci got the whole THE THICK OF IT writing crew to make sure the magnificant black humor is not lost.
IN THE LOOP is already cinemas in the UK since April 17th. Unfortunately the German audience has to wait a little longer.
At least here’s the trailer:
