SIMON TOFIELD
Not only cat lovers and owners will be delighted by our latest edition of Spotlight on:. British animator Simon Tofield and his CAT comics bring us a lot of funny insights into the exciting life of cat owners.
Known as SIMON’S CAT Simon has developed a series of animated short films starring a cat and its qirks that can demand a lot from its owner. Since the very first CAT film CAT-MAN-DO (2007) he has made LET ME IN, TV DINNER and his latest, FLY GUY. In October the first SIMON’S CAT book will be published and released worldwide. Simon is inspired by his own three cats Hugh, Maisie and Jess.
Simon has developed his particular brand of observational comedy while working with colleague and Oscar-winner, Daniel Greaves (MANIPULATION). In 2005 Daniel overwhelmed the britspotting audience with his funny and BAFTA nominated comedy LITTLE THINGS. Both are represented by the London based award winning animation production company Tandem.
Not only being a cat lover Simon also supports the concerns of other animals. His animation FED UP was created for the RSPCA’s ‘Give animals a Voice’ Campaign and helps to raise awareness about animal (in this case dog) obesity.
Simon has received many awards for his films so far. In 2008 for example he scooped the award for Best Comedy at the British Animation Awards for CAT-MAN-DO. Watch it here:
