britspotting presents: PLEASE SAY SOMETHING in the animated short film programme

PLEASE SAY SOMETHING
Like Cat and Mouse
PLEASE SAY SOMETHING is the first film from our short film programme we are going to present to you and it is certainly a real gem. At this year’s Berlinale film festival, it won the award in the category Best Short Film.
“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not one bit simpler.” This quote by Albert Einstein is the bottom line to David O’Reilly’s short films. The young director gained his art of drawing and his computer skills in the Irish city Kilkenny, but currently lives in Berlin.
With 24 years only, he can already call numerous animated films, music videos, commercials and experimental films his own. His most recent work is the music video to U2’s newest single “I’ll go crazy if I don’t go crazy tonight”.
However, everything but simple is the relationship dilemma his two animal protagonists have to face in his most recent, synthetically produced short film PLEASE SAY SOMETHING. In 23 episodes, David O’Reilly uncovers the uneven relationship between an emotional cat lady and a workaholic mouse, sometimes uproariously funny, sometimes heart-rendingly tragic.
britspotting does not want to miss out on this young talent. Thus, we look forward to showing you PLEASE SAY SOMETHING in our series of animated short films in the Filmcafe (Prenzlauer Berg).
