THE RACE

In André F. Nebe’s debut feature film we accompany the protagonist Mary on what is probably her biggest adventure.

11-year-old Mary lives on her parent’s farm in Ireland and dreams of becoming a racecar driver. Despite being teased by other boys at school, her family’s disapproval and her old, rattly racecar, Mary stays ambitious and brave, determined not to miss the chance to participate in the local Go Kart Championship!

Although German, director André F. Nebe picked Ireland as the setting of his first feature film. His other notable works include the award winning short film TRICKY FINGERS, such reputation gave him the opportunity to score two local stars Colm Meaney and Susan Lynch for his latest endeavour. In addition, budding actress Niamh McGirr, playing the heroine Mary, shines with a strong and convincing debut performance.

Colourfully and poetically narrated through the eyes of Mary, THE RACE is an exciting film for the whole family, encouraging children never to let go of their dreams.
