britspotting presents: SHIFTY

SHIFTY

SHIFTY

OUT OF CONTROL

We proudly present: Eran Creevy’s debut SHIFTY, which will be shown on the very first day of britspotting 2009!

Chris (Daniel Mays, also in ATONEMENT), who is in the process of climbing up the career ladder in Manchester, returns to his former neighbourhood in the outskirts of London where he meets his childhood friend Shifty (Riz Ahmed, also in ROAD TO GUANTÁNAMO). In contrast to Chris, nothing has changed at all in Shifty’s life - in fact, things have actually deteriorated as Shifty is now dealing with hard drugs. Can Chris stop Shifty on his way downwards or does he even make everything worse due to his mysterious disappearance a few years ago?

SHIFTY, Eran Creevy’s debut, is full of suspense and energy - possibly thanks to its rapid shooting schedule: it was shot in only 18 days. The film was funded by Film London’s Microwave initiative which backs projects with a budget up to £100,000 and provides filmmakers with a mentor - Creevy’s was Asif Kapadia (THE WARRIOR).

Before shooting his first feature, London-born filmmaker Creevy directed music videos and commercials. Based on Creevy’s experiences as a teenager, SHIFTY is also partly autobiographical. Supported by likeable characters and authentic perfomances by the two leads, the drama perfectly depicts a life slowly getting out of control.  Budding director Eran Creevy is definitely one to watch!
