Our exclusive sponsors this year come directly from the Islands: britspotting is very thankful for the support of British tea company Twinings as well as the Irish airline Aer Lingus.

Twinings, who already supported us last year, guarantee to make this year‘s opening night a truly British event: Over a cup of freshly-made Twinings tea, served by typically dressed butlers, all our thirsty guests can celebrate the beginning of an unforgettable festival weekend, together with the britspotting team. Accompanying the tea will be an extra special britspotting tenth anniversary birthday cake, created by Rosa Caleta restaurant. Throughout the rest of the weekend Twinings will provide sample tea for guests to take home and drink at their leisure – perhaps in front of a good film!

Aer Lingus brings a piece of Ireland to Berlin, as they provided britspotting with free flights from Ireland to the German capital. This enables many filmmakers to present their work in person at our festival. Aer Lingus is also providing two pairs of tickets for two lucky audience member who will be able to fly for free between Berlin and either Dublin or Cork – and back again! The competition will be open to all audience members who enter the festival audience voting competition, to judge both the best feature film and short film of the programme. Good luck!

So that our visiting film makers don’t find themselves without a bed for the night, Pfefferbett hostel in Prenzlauer Berg has thrown open the doors to its brand new set of self-contained apartments for our guests to use. Sweet dreams, everyone!

Prizes for the winners of this year‘s britspotting film competitions are being provided by The Script Factory and Pictorion – Das Werk.

The Script Factory, London, has kindly provided this year’s prize for the winning short-film team. The Script Factory is the UK’s most reputable script advisory and training service and has many years of experience and support of qualified industry professionals behind it. The winner will receive a free two-day screenwriting training course for new screenwriters in January 2010, plus a year’s free Script Factory membership.

Pictorion – Das Werk has once more provided the winning prize for the best feature film. The winning film team will receive a total of sixteen hours of Das Werk’s expert services including colour correction and colourist worth a total of 12.000 Euros. In addition, to help celebrate britspotting’s tenth anniversary, Das Werk have sponsored the creation of a special Das Werk – britspotting statuette to be awarded to the winning film team. The statuette has been designed and produced by local Berlin artist Holger Beisitzer.

Not forgetting our wonderful short-film programme, another prize is being donated by Das Filmcafé, britspotting’s short-film venue. Audience members who vote for their favourite short-film will be included in a competition to win a private screening in the Downstairs Kino at Das Filmcafé for them and a large group of friends!

Merrydown Cider, the quality cider from England, provides an amazing donation of delicious ‘Merridown Gold‘ cider for our thirsty guests. It will be available during our Opening Night celebrations at the Babylon and at Das Filmcafé at other times. Alcohol-free refreshment will be provided by Bionade; as britspotting‘s long-term partner Bionade will again provide us with drinks for our thirsty guests.

Special thanks go to Lonely GoatTeleworks and Flying Duck for filming and producing the britspotting festival trailer, as well as to Skunk Funk, for providing britspotting t-shirts, bags and lanyards for the entire team, guests and some lucky audience members. Maybe some of you are brave enough to attend our Irish Coffee- and Karaoke party on November 14th at Das Filmcafé; face our strict judges and win some awesome prizes! This is only for the most talented among you, of course – and the least ones! The karaoke machine has been kindly provided by Blue Media, and anyone who wants to throw their own karaoke party, can rent all equipment at Blue Media, in Stargarderstraße, right around the corner from Das Filmcafé.

ps…keep an eye out for two things around Berlin. The britspotting posters with the winning Lomography photograph taken by Stephan Kaps aka ‘mephisto19‘, and the britspotting MINI car. MINI has provided britspotting with a fantastic MINI clubman for the duration of the festival. All we need now is Michael Cain to turn up and provide us with his famous quote from the ‘Italian Job’. The first person to email info@britspotting.de with this quote wins a free pair of tickets for the closing night film GENOVA.
